    Why is Mercedes abandoning the EV platform? Because they don't know how to make it, like the rest of the EU industry.

    The EQV, EQC, and EQB have catastrophically poor reliability with ZF motors, where the motor burns out at just 20,000 km, coolant leaks damage the windings, and the park pawl mechanism in the transmission breaks the bearing. This EQV motor fails at 20,000 km, and the manufacturer offers a 2-year or 20,000 km warranty.

    A new motor costs €8,000, making it economically unfeasible and fueling the propaganda that "EVs are bad, buy diesel." This narrative of spreading xenophobia has been practiced by the EU industry for over 10 years, even encouraging customers in showrooms to buy diesel instead of EVs, despite diesel having more and costlier problems.

    This induction motor cools both the stator and the rotor, almost a copy of Tesla's 2012 LDU motor. They literally copied Tesla's coolant leakage problem, except Tesla's lasts at least 150,000 km, has an 8-year unlimited mileage warranty. The ZF motor is poorly designed, with thinner materials, poor winding insulation, and a smaller gearbox in a 3-ton vehicle.

    The primary issues are the park lock mechanism, which is the biggest stupidity ever designed in an EV and completely unnecessary, where locking the P parking position breaks the rotor shaft and bearing. The second issue is the poor stator design without thermal epoxy resin for better thermal conductivity and dissipation, as well as protection of the windings from condensation and moisture. It's also interesting how they seal the rotor cooling, not using PTFE oil seals like Tesla but Silicon Carbide “clutch” seals. Two plates slide against each other to prevent coolant penetration, but they didn't account for the rotor being hit by the parking lock mechanism. This is 3rd unit with same problem.
