A suggestion that has been bantered around is to use the wireless charging to draw current whilst driving down the road.
Ie highways, main arterial ect. That way range anxiety reduced & generally would have enough battery to get to the next charging highway. Although dread to think of the cost.
We still don't have 4 lanes running up the East Coast of Qld & stops when it gets flooded (how embarrassing) but there is only so much cash/ resource available.
One of the Scandivanain countries trucking companies was toying with overhead lines like trams (talk about visual pollution). Good idea on old tech? & only for smaller land mass / higher density population countries.
Whilst a good idea with current tech, will be obsolete where battery density increases ( holy grail looking like solid state batteries - how far away - yet to be seen - how typical 10 years + from discovery to commercial applications).
Gigafactories betting heavy in Lithium Ion 6 2 2 or eventually 8 1 1 although another mix of 9 0.5 0.5 had been touted.
Each causing its own unique issues.
So unfortunately this is where it will land for the foreseeable future, with incremental improvements.
