This post shows absolutly no scientific thought at all The standard for calculating solar efficiency in the us is PVwatts you have to use it for every applications to all 50 states and FED. https://pvwatts.nrel.gov/ So lets take a car whose Horizontal surface are is 6 ft x18 Ft. = 108 SQ Feet. I doubt you could ever get this much panels on a car but lets assume you have a big panel mounted over the car. a top of the line commercial solar panel delivers about 20 W per square foot under test lighting conditions. So you will have about 2100 rated watts from this array. Now lets locate it in an open space near Phoenix AZ with panel mounted at the prefect angle and azimuth for collecting power not moving and driving. Go to Pv watts and see what yearly production would be. It is 3,584 KWH per year. Total system loses is calculated at 14% which is better than Average. So with every angle prefect why don't you look at the specs for the car you posted and tell me how many miles it can go on 365 days of parking with every angle prefect.

Now lets look at how much location effects it. I will go to ND US which is flat and does not have much bad weather Yearly out put drops to 2.508KWH about a 30 % drop just by changing location, from Sothern US to Northern US. How far will your car go with this much yearly charge.? Simple fact is that Car mounted solar arrays sound sexy and seem great to the uniformed user. they lose efficiency when moving and even if every thing is prefect they just do not add that many miles
Below I have copied the spread sheet data for both locations I used. i think if you put some thought into it you would realize just how crazy your statement is. " I think there are potentially EVs in the future for which the only power will be onboard solar. " you should think a little harder before making statements like this. think hard before saying that panels will get more efficient. they will but by how much without a non Siicon bassed technology. Here is a good place to start https://www.science.org.au/curious/technology-future/solar-pv
