Germany: 'New-car sales in Germany fell 0.8 percent to 313,748 in August, according to data released by the German Motor Transport Authority (KBA). Full-electric registrations jumped 104 percent to give the powertrain a 1.6 percent market share.'
France: 'Sales of battery electric vehicles were up 50 percent for the year, with a 1.8 percent market share.'[2]
Also, despite lack of strategy from the (Australian) government (not due until next year), a continued embracement of EV in Australia is evident:
'The report shows that the number of people currently researching EVs with an intention to buy now has more than tripled, jumping from 1.8% in the 2018 report to 6% this year' [3]
IMO, with heaps of new models coming out in the next 12 months (with a range of them on display in Frankfurt in the coming week), we are close to the tipping point. I think the tipping point here is 'peer influence', which (IMO) is going to start playing a bigger role, much like smoking does..
Take home message: increased peer influence (PI)=more initiations
