"half tonne torch batteries?" LOL. For inner city cars, he says.

That's the segment I and others call urban ultralight and you dismiss with your "e-rickshaw" slur.

These vehicles have batteries with less than 50kWh; for comparison, the urban ultralight Honda e, just introduced, has 170km range and a 35.5kWh battery.

So how much might an urban ultralight vehicle "torch battery" weigh?
Let's do the math together - don't be sick now - using a real world 2019 battery pack:
    50000 Wh/180 Wh/kg = 277 kg.

For the Honda e 35.5kWh, the weight is 198 kg. And as kWh/kg is constantly rising, the battery weight is constantly falling (hope I don't have to explain that to you too).

In fact, there are solid state batteries coming soon enough with double and more the energy density, dropping those numbers by a factor of two and more. You simply don't know what you are talking about and then all of sudden you're parroting prettily. Just drop the juvenile disrespect and you'll be fine.

    Energy density of 360 Wh/kg

NIO says that the new solid-state batteries (150 kWh) have an ultra-high energy density of 360 Wh/kg (probably on the cell level) and that it's 50% more than in the case of the 100 kWh pack.

The 84 kWh pack in 2019 was at 180 Wh/kg (on the pack level). We guess that the 100 kWh probably was well above 200 Wh/kg on the pack level.

The new batteries are promised to offer "good battery life" and "higher charging efficiency," but details were not provided.

Those new batteries combine several technologies, including Nickel-Ultrarich Cathode and Si/C Composite Anode:
