That was very interesting read but I was surprised to find that some have no plans to manufacture EVs, they are just involved in software, components or AV tech. Then a few more should really be grouped together like SAIC and its joint ventures. Others are so small on a global scale that without a large injection of capital they are not going to become major players in the next 10 years.

BYD, SAIC and Nio are really the only 3 Chinese producers (not counting Tesla) with serious EV manufacturing capabilities. There are another 7 with the capital or joint venture partners that have the potential to become significant EV producers however most of the rest are talking big but haven't actually sold an EV yet.

If the CCP don't put the rest of the world offside with their aggressive diplomacy it is most likely that China will own the bottom end of the EV market as evidenced by the SAIC-GM-Wuling Mini EV that has a top speed of 100km/h and a range of 120 km but it only costs $US 4500. Safety is a bit of a weak point and it only has the power of a decent rideon mower but on a units per month basis it is outselling Tesla in China. For a few more Yuan they could design in crumple zones and equip it with some airbags to produce an inner city commuter. If that didn't work well at least they could sell them as golf carts.smile.png
