    Yep. Pretty much .

We'll get to about 75-80% of the rooftops according to the experts . The last bit really isn't suitable for solar . Because all those properties are effectively power stations, it makes a lot of sense to add batteries as well. Not only do you increase grid security immensely, you also are doing it at the load point . This means that you take a huge burden off the grid . Especially in peak periods. Rather than generate electricity hundreds or thousands of kms away and have to transport it, you create most of it right where it is used. Removing peaks means removing peak charges . Hence the cost goes down .
Let's not forget that many of those domestic properties will have also have a giant battery parked in the driveway . A huge amount of household and grid storage that comes for free when you buy an ev.

According to a study from the Victorian Energy Policy Centre, we have enough large commercial roofspace to house enough solar to power the whole NEM. Large buildings that have large grid connections and lots of space for battery storage . Once again very close to the load point in industrial areas.
No land or environmental impact as the building footprint already exists. lt also enables the building owner to reduce costs . Win win.

All this local renewable generation and storage gear is being rolled out smoothly and progressively . That means it can be maintained and upgraded progressively . No waiting decades for old technology to be built that will be redundant before its finished .

Now that solar and wind are proven on a grid scale as are large batteries, it is literally just a matter of time before we have a grid powered completely by renewable energy . The technology is already proven . We know exactly how much it costs . All we have to do is get it built .

There is simply no good reason to go with the Dud's nuclear option.
