Unfortunately no-one represents my political views BB. It's generally a vote for whomever I dislike the least on each occasion - and I do mean dislike, lol. I value people's rights over bureaucratic powers, want honesty, transparency and integrity in govt, economic adroitness and efficiencies in policies, generally favour smaller not larger public sector but also value a number of areas of genuine social justice (which presents a dilemma) and don't mind paying taxes as long as they are being spent wisely and delivered without waste to deserving areas / recipients. There's probably lots more to it as well. I'm also a bit of an outsider by nature possibly retaining some anti-establishment fervour from my youth, yet I'm also law abiding (another contradiction?). As a social observation of these times, I sometimes find it amusing to see your average uni-students today probably considering themselves as cutting edge radicals, yet championing the now well-worn and somewhat predictable political views that are often as mainstream as the denim they wear (ie. once a sign of defiance, now simply a conformist uniform?). Maybe a true radical would go to uni decked in a "Pauline was robbed" T-shirt and bait the encircling mob that would doubtlessly appear to attempt to put them back in their place, lol.
In Australia, I like the "green" bit of the Greens but not the whole package as we previously discussed - and I note that STILL no real money has been forthcoming to renewables in this country. I've put my money down (and lost) in GDY, PTR, PAX, KEN, CWE and DYE and time and again have seen woeful support from chattering politicians. Has Bob Brown put his own money down?
If in the US, I would have voted for Obama last time (also great to see the first black President) and would easily do so again over any of the Republican offerings I've seen. Some elements of the Tea Party I find simply scary. Although I do like some of the discussions on people's fundamantal rights versus overbearing govt issues raised.
Not sure about the UK...

BB and peteai - Good points on the Reuters quote, the wording and the biofuels point (for the same reason I bracketed that bit out deliberately above). Maybe it's not clearcut that they will focus less on the source of the power??? Time will tell if Obama makes a big distinction on this issue.
I agree Petai the smart grid concepts including car storage could be a good development.
Cheers.
