That's my pet hobby. I feel good if I can be carbon neutral both financially and environmentally. I put a second solar array up early last year to make up 5kw total. I installed some really efficient air conditioners and a Bosch heat pump HWS. Every light that practically can be is a led.
I use timers to make sure appliances like dishwasher and laundry appliances operate in solar producing times or off peak situation depending.
Our power bills used to average out at $400-$600 a quarter a few years ago. My power bill today was $247 for the last qtr thanks to solar and we are a family of 4.It's the one utility we can do something about now. I'm glad I jumped on board with it.
