A few thoughts to ponder over the weekend
Are Rio preparing an imminent take-over, or did they just show their hand to deter other interested parties?
Are Rio likely to play a waiting game and increase their percentage in future placings? If so, are they likely to allow the share price to drift as frustrated traders close their leveraged positions, while Rio's broker slowly accumulates whenever there's reasonable volume available?
How will Rio deal with Nigers 27.7 million shares? Will they attempt to buy a controlling stake of Niger, or pay them a premium for the shares?
Do Rio intend to take an active part in the exploration of Rossing South? and if so, to what extent?
How will Rio react if another major buys Niger's stake?
