First off one must remember that LNG and CSG are not the same density. LNG has double the density of LNG and subsequently more profitable.

China does indeed have massive shale gas reserves, however they are not intending to do much about it at the moment other than locate identify it. Apparently a large percentage is in geographically challenging locations. They are prepared as usual to play the long game.

In the mean time China are also investing in gas projects in Australia. They will let us and others play and streamline the technology, which they will undoubtedly use in the future.

The USA imports a lot of LNG at the moment, that will reduce as the encourage CSG to be produced there. However there is a number of hurdles, which they will eventually overcome. The USA and China are two of the biggest energy uses in the world. With the China steadily modernizing and 3-4 times the population of the USA, it shan't be long before they become the largest user. Also the World population is increasing rapidly and so is the general hunger for energy and from a WPL prospective - Gas.

It also wouldn't surprise me that in the future that the State simply says - "All new cars sold in China will have gas converters", given their rapidly developing pollution problems. However now I'm diverging into the world of speculation.

I do consider that it may be a decade or two before gas has the capabilities of becoming a glut. However you are forgetting a major consideration - Supply and Demand, as one can see from projects around Australia, the costs of infrastructure in obtaining, transporting, processing such is far from cheap. No Country or Company is going to invest in such unless it is reasonably profitable to do so.

IMO, in the short to medium term, Countries like Australia are ahead of the curve in gas by a long shot.
