I believe that there are 3 basic categories of information:
A. Information that the company is either legally obliged to release OR that they deem (at their discretion) to be appropriate to release.
B. Information that the company deems (at their discretion) to be either too sensitive, irrelevant or inappropriate to release.
C. Information that is not yet 100% known, which is essentially forward-looking and therefore impossible to release with absolute certainty.
In general, I am perfectly happy and satisfied that the company has provided sufficient information - that is, "CATEGORY A" (others are entitled to disagree). When I am not satisfied, I contact the company. Sometimes they point me in the right direction to be able to find the information that has been released already and sometimes they just can't help because the information is either sensitive or simply unavailable.
Those shareholders who want to know ALL 3 categories of information - including the forward-looking stuff that isn't even known yet - must be "THICK" IMHO. Shows a serious lack of business acumen.
How many businesses out there can categorically say exactly who their products or services will be sold to over the next 3 quarters - "here is a list of names and attached copies of the Purchase Orders" - VERY, VERY FEW is the answer.... a tiny percentage. Many don't even know who they are selling to TODAY!!
What businesses do have is budgets, plans, sales forecasts, industry knowledge, current and historical data, etc.... surprise surprise that is exactly what we have. They don't halt production just because they don't have Purchase Orders 3 quarters in advance..... they open the doors each day, they continue production and they have confidence in their sales projections.
I know what I need to know....
(But I don't like the oppies.... they're too cheap and the expiry date is too far away.... that's why I will buy heaps of them!!!)
