I like your crypto analogy.
However, to complete your analogy, you would have to put into a condition wherein you could only ever produce a definite number of fart-filled jars.
But then there is nothing to stop anyone else from producing their own brand of functionally identical limited-edition fart-filled jars.
It's hard to understand why an early brand of an otherwise unlimited number of brands of fart-filled jars should be accorded such value, notwithstanding that each type might only ever be produced in limited quantities.
I guess people with spare money will collect just about anything these days.
At least with tulips, the aroma was better, and if the worst came to the worse, you could always eat the bulb.
