If you are living hand to mouth may I suggest that the stock market is not for you. Even if you are not, you still need to take into account personal circumstances.
Never made much sense to jump into the ring knowing that you can't take the hits. The sad part of this game is that, those that fall off the registry during tree shakes never reconciled that they needed that money to buy groceries or pay bills with that money in the first place. Even worse are the fund managers that have not got their personal finances in order and desperately need their jobs. If you can't manage your own money you have no place managing others. If you need the money in the the next 12-18 months it should not be anywhere near the stock market.
There is always certain degree of risk to any investment that EVN for me at least is alleviated because I'm LT and still averaging up. Different perspective hence the differing sentiment to the market.
