Honestly that EVN top-up had a lot of luck riding on it. Same TA methodology was used on the other buys above and those are in the red based on the prices above, except EVN. Not by much on those prices above but still in the red. At the same time, I did not have immediate accretion expectations and mind you those top-ups are on decade long holdings, so the actual underlying holding is multiples in the green. There in lies the real crux of my methodology. If you are already multiples ahead on a stock you really don't need to pick the bottom. Close enough is good enough. So what if I end up catching a falling knife, I'll be holding on to the stock for many years anyway.
In the end what's wrong with being down 10% when in 3+ years time your up 50-60% on a top-up. Or in the case of that EVN top-up, up 35% in a little over a month. As I said a bit of luck
