My concern is not that Govts will liquidate gold reserves, as has been pointed out govts. are printing money.
I think a greater risk is of individual mine production being impacted and possibly shut down by Covid 19. This could happen to EVN or any miner at any stage.
If economies get bad enough Govts could increase tax or royalities on profitable miners.
Govts could nationalise mines particularly if a gold standard is reintroduced.
If the Gold price does take off as some are predicting, Govts could legislate to fix the price of gold and even ban private ownership or the private exchange of gold.
