Monty I am also very long in both EVN and NST , also long in other commodity stocks such as coal , uranium and copper stocks.
Reason are that as these products are priced in US$ yet my holdings are primarily costed in A$ .
I am based in NZ and unfortunately both here in NZ and Aus have delt with the Covid vaccine stroll out very badly and we are now paying the price for this attitude which is hurting our economies.
For me gold is an insurance policy with 2 great companies with safe geopolitical assets , little debt , great cash flow and paying dividends. At some point the price if gold will bust through US$2k and then these companies will be a considerable premium to current price. In the meantime I am happy to hold while watch all the fallout from the Afganistan debacle yet to play out with say emboldened China moving into Taiwan, Russia into Ukraine, Iran attacking Israel through proxy terrorist, who will stop any of these happening, Biden , no chance .
Gold is purchased out of fear and when not if the above events happen gold will be the safe harbor.
