US economy doesn't look good but its not the worst horse in the soap factory so I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the USD to fall. The price of gold isn't reliant on the USD rising or falling in itself. Its an investment of last resort when all other investments turn risky. So we see a much better long term correlation between gold and inflation adjusted US 10 year bonds here
With bonds turning negative worldwide and the printing presses warming up for rescue of debt ridden banks (Deutsche bank), gold looks a sure bet. But that bet might not really pay off until 2017.
