I think there is a Crisis in the Australian Gold Mining Industry right now, miners are having problems with high cost inflation and the industry could be coming to an end here unless the AUD is significantly devalued, Australia has been mining gold for 200 years and not a lot of economic gold left (my own speculation). I bought gold in 2004 and I think I may have done better than if I bought a gold mining portfolio instead after 18 years.
