From what I read Darwin had integrity. I assume his motives were he was a scientist and he was doing his job. The Theory of evolution is a theory, it isnt or wasnt presented by him as the truth regarding the origin of life forms. It was the best explanation of how life develops he could come up with, with the resources he had. He knew full well it had limitations and he was quite honest about them.
What happens on these threads is people take a position on a subject and this leads to dissent. This demonstrates the importance of humility, no arrogance and pride, no sin.
