But even evolution hits a wall. I'm happy to toss any form of God out, even one that is more like a force of cause, cohesion, etc. Evolution, the gradual development of complexity is a reality, but you can only rewind evolution so far back. If there are an infinite number of steps to evolution then you simply will never arrive in the present. Basically even evolution needs a starting point and that brings up a lot of unanswered questions.

The other problem is that evolution is masterful at explaining how things adapt, but it's not so good at explaining why so many layers of complexity is part of its Mission Statement. If life started as a virus like thing, then evolution can push that virus all over the place to adapt to every climate change that occurred.

That virus had absolutely no need to get all uppity and decide to become a blue whale, but it did. Evolution built more and more complexity into perfectly good organisms and developed even more complex eco-systems. Talk about an overachiever.

Classic evolution constrains excess, keeps all creatures within a natural boundary, but humans blew the lid off. We have intelligence and sentience off the scale. We alter the very nature we evolved out of and vastly exceed what one might have expected from mindless, reactive evolution..

So I'm afraid that its all but impossible that it's only evolution, because if it was that kind of evolution begins to sound a lot like God with another name.
