    It doesn't matter what the article says. The fact is
    The RNA enzymes are not replicating themselves but each other. At best it is cross replication.
    It only proceeds indefinitely if it is provided the "sub units"

    What are the "sub units"

    "The subunits in the enzymes the team constructed each contain many nucleotides, so they are relatively complex and not something that would have been found floating in the primordial ooze."



    Nor is anyone claiming to know precisely how life got started, just that researchers are exploring possibilities. That it's a work in progress.

    The article states that RNA is not alive.
