Totally agree the long term is controlled Fussion. We have had uncontrolled fusion since the early 60s it is call ed a hydron bomb. Till then I believe Travelling wave is a solution. By no stretch of the imagination is it totally safe. Compared with PW reactors it is an order of magnitude safer. Two big areas are loss of control on reactors and how hard it is for the waste material is to handle. I am sure as more are built we will find new problems but that is just how life works.
