Currently using Level one, or home charging for EVs they have a much lower cost to fuel than ICE vehicles. This is true even if you use Level two charging very sparingly. Use Level two Currently 0.40 ~ 0.55 KWH even 30% of time and in about 6 states it cost more than Gas (petrol). This currently points to a rosy picture for EV costs rases questions for future that are still unknow. It does not consider that if even 10 % of the energy is switched from GAS to Electric that Gas prices drop and electric goes up. Operational Costs are far more motivating for the average buyer than Green. This will mean the more successful EVs are the more their growth will slow. Prices for USED tesla's is already falling about twice as fast as Used ice vehicles. Grid problems will only accelerate price rises for electric as cost for grid improvement is amortized over the product it transports.

I understand one of the reasons that used EVs prices fall so fast is new ones have many state and federal rebates. At some point they have to sell without government help as they become more popular these rebates will have to be scaled back or eliminated.
