    If a hypothetical car owner buys a $40k BYD and saves $30k in fuel costs alone over 5 years (not even considering maintenance), why would they care about depreciation of the asset?

    Look to China and see the market penetration of EVs there, and the infrastructure that exists to support them.

    The early adopter phase is over from a global point of view.

    Australia lags as it always has, but it will follow the global trend here.

    Toyota RAV4s are a great car.

    I recently bought an EV to replace an ICE that has reached the point in its life where repairing parts is costing an extra thousand dollars a year.

    I in no way advocate replacing perfectly fine running vehicles with new cars. That is wasteful.
