    It should be obvious that just because something is logically possible when taken abstractly enough, doesn't mean that possibility presents itself as reality when the rubber meets the road. You've made the outlandish claim that a fuel with less energy provides the same fuel economy as a fuel with more energy. It's up to you to prove that assertion now.

    $1250 over 5 years is still less than what they would pay for petrol over one year. Even if they are only driving 10,000km a year in a 7.5l/100km car and paying $2/l for petrol. A good tradeoff yes?

    Add to that lower maintenance costs, and it becomes a very good tradeoff.

    But I'm still waiting for you to tell me how much more tyre usage your "largest tyre supplier in Australia" said there was?
