What about the last carbied petrol, probably mid 80's, it was a bit of a dog. The first common rail diesels (2005 from memory) had a few problems too. The best of the lot was the early 90s 2.8 diesel, the last to be built in Japan and with a solid front axle but I wouldn't use a single one of them in the city.
