you're correct that EVs, on their own, won't do anything about weather events..... neither will all the renewable energy around the world. its not the weather events but the heating of the atmosphere and oceans. theres a 50+ yr lag between reducing emissions and the consequential reduction in atmospheric GHGs. there's a mother lag between falling GHG emissions and temperature of around 5 yrs.
what we do today will; have consequences 55 yrs down the track. so we can expect worsening weather systems, intensity such as the recent cat 5 cyclone in WA and volatility to increase with the present quantity of GHGs in the atmosphere.
we all know that each step we take toward a goal is one less step needed. therefore each extra ton of GHG emissions worsens the consequences.
