Trouble is, inflation is already high and the current green policies will only make things worse - another coal fired power station is just about gone and along with it a substantial amount of power generating capacity which then will simply increase energy prices further though all are told not to worry as prices won't change much. No prices won't change much, prices will simply change a lot and on the up crippling even more smaller businesses. A smallish local store used to keep some lights on after hours - not anymore, suspect the owner is trying to save a few dollars.
Yet they want to force people to buy EV's which are way out of reach for many who are already struggling as it is. For those who are able to purchase EV's, may soon find that charging the EV will cost a lot more than some idiot politicians say (though if they can afford an EV then for them higher charging fees won't be an issue anyhow) and for those who will ultimately be forced out of their ICE vehicle ownership may just step back in time to those horse and buggy days or else walk. More like total blooming 'green' lunacy that won't save no blooming planet nor will it save the country from self inflicted harm. Yes, it will reduce consumption - big time. Were any power stations voluntarily blown up in Ukraine?? If so or if via hostilities, it's a sure way to curb consumption.
Would prefer to turn the power switch off voluntarily rather than been forced to by the actions of voluntary energy destruction.
The whole economic cycle is a vicious one - difficult to find a 'right' balance. Perhaps this whole push into 'green' is in a way to ensure reduced consumption - it sure has already made an impact on spending habits for many - some don't have to worry about spending too much as they simply don't have enough or more to spend.
