This stat doesn't prove anything.
Although I do acknowledge the "battery-cars-catch-fire-all-the-time" narrative seems to be false.
"Shutting down the electrical system" does not prevent an Li battery fire. So not sure how that's relevant.
Show me the numbers for vehicles catching fire that are less than 5 years old, as a % of sales. That would be the interesting stat.
There's no doubt that dodgy old cars, poorly maintained by dodgy old codgers would be skewing the petrol car fire figure.
