The Chinese focus is not on small companies that have unique offerings. They went for barley because it will damage Australia's industry on a country-wide scale and was already flagged as an issue, giving them the ability to cower behind the facade of their tariffs not being political when Stevie Wonder can see that they are entirely political.

A company like EVS has something that will benefit China which is not a replaceable commodity like barley.

It's always alarming to see trade tensions escalate but the focus is on commodities and wide-scale industry, which EVS does not really fit into. As self-destructive as they may be, it doesn't make sense to ban all Australian companies from operating in China. The losses that would ensue would absolutely provoke a response in Aus where many, many, many Chinese companies own very substantial holdings.

They own airports, mines, ports and heavy infrastructure not to mention unbelievable amounts of real estate, agri land and other general businesses. I don't think China would see any sense in banning Aus from operating businesses in China because that two way street would be just as damaging - if not more so - for Chinese nationals with financial interests in businesses that operate in Australia.

Barley can be bought from and sold to anywhere else.
