In my opinion, the surest way is to check and confirm with the share registry ie Computershares for your recorded GMD holding, If you find your broker displaying a higher number of GMD shares than the expected 1/4 of original SBM holding!
Does anyone know or coming across the situation where one happens to sell more shares than actually owning due to errors of Stock broker displaying an incorrect amount of holdings!
