The same thing in the example would happen, you cant sell any of it , until you held all of it at risk for 45 days or you could forgo the franking credits .
btw this rule only applies if you bought like ~$170,000+ worth of fmg though, which gives you over $5000 of franking credit, if you're under $5000, you get an exemption and you dont have to worry about the 45 day rule.
