I have what may be a dumb question around ex-dividend dates. However I want to make sure I have it right :)

If a company makes announcement on upcoming dividend dates, using BHP as an example, they have the 2013 interim dividend on the ASX set at 4th of march.

Does that mean that if I hold shares after trading closes on the ASX on the 4th March, I will recieve a dividend payment from them, no matter if I sell my shares the following day, the 5th March or anytime later?

Apolgies if this is not the right forum to post a question like this.

    Thanks
