The ex national president of THE AUSTRALIAN LABOR PARTY will be sentanced to day after being found guilty of fraud.

EVEN during his tenure as national president of the Australian Labor Party, Michael Williamson was corruptly accepting envelopes stuffed with cash stolen from some of the nation's lowest-paid workers.

Williamson, 60, who dominated the Health Services Union as its general secretary from 1995 to last year, yesterday pleaded guilty to fraud charges relating to the $600,000 envelopes scam and another $338,000 corruptly funnelled to a shell business owned by his wife for non-existent work.
