I haven't seen anything from tesla that says they are happy with current generation technology. I thought that panasonic would be making next generation li-ion for the gigafactory, so they are plainly not intending to just solely rely on economies of scale.
However, to quote Elon Musk at a Tesla earnings call,
“Talk is super cheap, the battery industry has to have more BS in it than any industry I’ve ever encountered. It’s insane.”
I think the reason for the battery detail being in the ADO presentation is that it's a statement to investors that they have seen a sufficient improvement that it justifies creating Anteo Energy and investing further.
