You can set an order at any price and cancel after the lock period and before the open, it sits there and is wiped before open... any cancels come off before trades.
A retail investor has minimums set by the provider comsec etc etc - brokers with a direct connection can buy or sell a tiny parcel if they please... hence bots buying small incremental amounts with both buys and sells intermingled in a single trading day.
All of this is evidenced across stocks on the ASX and other markets.
Its part of the eco system - I’m not saying it’s fair or right just that it is.
