I am not interested in "live" data. I scrape the days market results from several sources to accumulate bot the market open/high/low/close/volume data but also dividends paid including franking. A few simple scripts on a linux box is all it takes along with an database that comes with linux. You can use any flavour of Linux with my own preference being Fedora. I use the mySQL/Maria open source db that comes with it. The set of scripts to effect the collection and loading would amount to maybe 200-300 lines of code. Probably half the code was added to turn the scripts into more generic ones so I have to make less changes as I add more features.
