Sure there is a choice:
1) Have everything/fun all your life and work for someone else your whole life. OR
2) Sacrifice early (you can still enjoy the little things) and reap the rewards later in life (i.e. retire at 40) and be able to do far more then.
I prefer option 2 as I enjoy what I do now so I don't see it as much of a sacrifice anyway.
