I beg to differ Matt747 there are financial advisors and there are advisors who work for banks and institutions [amp etc]who try and sell u there products . Some financial advisors with an accounting degree and background are well worth paying money to for advice but as u quite rightly put it find one or someone who has experienced recessions or up and down cycles in the past .
