Agreed. I don't think we can take inference that Cougar is linked to either project, one being an open cut mining venture and the other coal to gas to diesel with carbon storage thrown in.

As you stated though a massive positive that Direct has interest in both Australia and the sector. Further to this it tells us Direct actually have cash (or excellent backers), and have survived the GFC!

As for the recent interest, it can be nothing less than some big players taking a position. Who ever they are it ensures the next capital raising will happen at a much healthier price, something that will bring a smile to the face of long-term holders.
