..."(b) Impairment of the investment in associates The Group has not impaired any of its investments in associates, a decision which requires significant estimates and judgements. As required by current Accounting Standards, the Group has evaluated, among other factors, the financial health of, and near term business outlook for its associates and assessed the carrying value of its investments against current estimated fair value. Where an impairment indicator exists due to the current economic climate an impairment test has been performed. This has resulted in no impairment write downs being required in the current financial period. The carrying amount of the Group’s investments in associates is $277,650,000 at 31 December 2008"
