What is interesting is that most analysts don't normally understand the full implications of China and can only focus on the so called property bubble. When I was last in China, the new high speed elevated dual track rail from Nanjing to Shanghai was still under construction.
It is now finished, just a few months later and is now operating. The Chinese can build a 320 km long high speed railway quicker than Aussies can put a few pink batts in a roof.

"New Shanghai-Nanjing bullet train raises fares Starting today, a ticket for the new high-speed rail line between Shanghai and Nanjing will cost you 146 yuan (233RMB for first class), making the trip both intriguing and steeply uninviting. The new bullet train, starting operations on July 1 and traveling at a speed of 350 km per hour, will cut travel time between the two cities from two hours to 73 minutes, which, we assume, is meant to make up for the 56% increase in fare prices. Although, the new train system is supposed to mimic city buses, with five minute intervals between trains during peak hours, which could effectively turn Nanjing into a suburb of Shanghai. Officials have also said that prices could lower depending on market reactions. Commuters, we're crossing our fingers."

Very expensive for the Chinese, 146 yaun Fare is AUD$23.50. Can you imagine getting a ticket in Australia on a 350km/hr train for a trip of $320km for just $23.50?

This is just the first of many new high speed trains for China.

Next year IO will be at US$200/ton and copper at US$10,000 /ton.
