The share price is set daily by the market on the perceptions of the day. The people who move in & out of EXT don't care about the price in 20 years time but are looking at it today. I don't really understand where your coming from, are you saying you don't care because you'll hold on to EXT forever? Well, good for you, we are probably of the same mind. However, there are other investors who might be considering buying or selling and would be interested in a discussion on what might affect the share price.
From the remarks from the Reserve Bank and various newspaper articles (one link given above) the higher A$ will not be a short term matter, but looks like persisting for the duration of the commodity boom, ie for years. The last time the A$ exceeded US$1 for an appreciable time was in the 1950s, also a period of booming commodity prices.
I'll say it again - at some point we will see the share price being affected by the rising A$
