I have several regos. The majority of the fee is the insurance component .Only one of these vehicles is on the road at any one time. So I am paying multiples of insurance for the one driver. Adds up to a fair whack of money for very little return. I am subsidising a lot of people because I happen to own several cars and motorcycles.
I'll be very happy when people start paying their fair share.
