Worth noting that October 14, media reported that a current program was being undertaken by the German government in association with over seventy (70) major industrial players including BMW and Audi.
This program being the MAI Carbon Cluster Management Program GmBH has invested over $100 million to develop ways to reduce the cost of AUTOMATION in producing Carbon Fibre vs Steel. The current cost being $20 per kilo for carbon fibre and $1 per kilo for steel - a wide bridge to cross.
Obviously the issue here is PRODUCTION and not necessarily technology in the development of carbon fibre for the automotive industry. Incorporating the manufacture of carbon fibre panels into the high volume production lines of the automotive industry is the challenge.
Significant engineering work into robotics with the carbon fibre technology needs to be done to reduce the production costs and achieve high volume production.
IMO this is the current situation for QHL in the automotive industry and any orders will not be achieved in the short term.
