In an attempt to breathe more life into the port of Lomé, the government sacked director general of customs Marc Ably-Bidamon and replaced him with Koffi Adedze in October 2011. The IMF is also urging the government to improve its activities in the phosphate, telecoms and energy sectors. Despite investments in the rehabilitation of the Société Nouvelle des Phosphates du Togo, production levels have not picked up but are due to in the next couple of years.
