Exit strategy

I am not familiar with business rules particular in shares stocks trading. Can someone explain to me in simple English that if I held shares of company "A" and it gone into liquidation. Will the company "A" debts pass on to me because I am their share holder? What will happen to me if I decide to keep my company "A" shares regardless of the SP and it gone into administration.
