I cannot be bothered to chase it up, but that is exactly what bill shorten, minister for superannuation was proposing more than a year ago.... and he wants all SMSF's closed down, and the money transferred to his union mates, who run the industry superfunds. He also proposed that the funds should not pay a lump sum, only annuities, or pensions for life.
Can you imagine how those funds are managed, mainly union mates in charge, and in light of the bruce wilson/ AWU scandal, and the thomson HSU scandal, about how the funds are mismanaged ?
the labor govnut love the idea of taking from the rich, and the goonies who believe it agree... but they do not then give it to the poor....they take if for themselves
but the majority of the superfund money is not in the hands of the rich, it is the strugglers money these ghouls are after
