Toward the end of last financial year, I sold my holding in SP1 off market at 0.02 cents per share, this sum being close to the asset backing and a value that would be hard to argue with. There is no need for this transaction to be at arms length, any friend or relative can be the buyer, assuming your motive for selling is to claim a capital loss or, in my case to escape the ridiculous valuation adhered to by Centrelink. The cost base that I used, and that I cleared with the ATO was 20% of the purchase price - the remaining 80% then becomes the cost base for my ISXFEU shares - there is no class ruling by the ATO and I got the impression that the proportion could be flexible, in my case I chose to stay in line with the valuation information given in conjunction with the Demerger. Hope this is of interest to others. Cheers
